It has been a busy (and fun) time for the team at Arkay over the last few months. With new and exciting projects, holidays, and digital developments, it has certainly been all systems go.
Of course, we haven’t forgotten how we kept you in suspense in our quarter-one review regarding two new sites in development, which we’re pleased to announce are now live, and we have further details below, as well as some great new projects to tell you about and plans for 2023.
So, what have we been up to?
We’ve been working with the University of South Wales BA Cinema on their website development. A website development that showcases some of the incredible projects from the University’s final-year students.
Getting to work, we developed a CMS-based solution, designing what you will see visually as “through the reel,” an easy-to-edit, extremely dynamic page that takes you through students’ work.
This CMS solution future-proofs the University’s website as the CMS editing allows information to be updated and changed yearly with the next cohort of pupils.
Up next…the Welsh ICE (Innovation Centre for Enterprise) website went live! The community hub we spoke about in our quarter 1 review required an engaging design and an easy-to-use content management system that allowed the site to work alongside its marketing automation plugins. This was a large website design and development project which included the need for a robust content management system to allow the team at ICE to update their content regularly, post new stories, and interact with their target audience to encourage collaboration.
Heading back to quarter 1, again, we mentioned a multi-lingual site that wanted a website that supported their business development, showcased their work, and encouraged people to sign up and get involved. We’re delighted to announce that BioMonde is now live. We also provided them with CSS styling legible for the target audience, a reliable web hosting solution, and integrated site payment options that suited their target audience and business requirements.
We don’t just work for new clients!
At Arkay, we build positive relationships with all of our clients, whether this is through ongoing web hosting, more hands-on web management, or supporting you with website redesigns and a refresh – we’re your web development partner through it all.
Currently, we’re working with one of our long-standing clients, Positive Group, on their latest product release. Supporting their web platform and working on app development, this exciting project demonstrates our development skills beyond designing and building unique websites.
We’ve enjoyed some great collaborations between clients this quarter, building pages and websites that involve rebrands and launch announcements, and we’re also pleased to see an influx in hosting migrations, where we have taken over hosting for various clients, providing a smarter, cost-effective, and personal service to hosting.
As we move into quarter 4 and 2023, some of our current projects here at Arkay include:
A website build for CAN Property Development – Together we CAN.
Property development websites are no small feat and must be able to hold a lot, and we mean a lot, of content and media. We understand in property development; people want to find information fast, so building effective and efficient editing solutions into the development of this site is essential.
We’ve also been working with The Africa Rally on developing a team area for their existing homepage. Working through their requirements, what is feasible and what will sit well with the user experience.
At Arkay, we explore all solutions, considering SEO, user-friendly setups, and more, to ensure that you not only get the development you want but we exceed your expectations in what we can deliver.
On another keynote……
Arkay’s own digital development guru, Rob, attended two sessions as an expert/professional to help others in the industry. This included a ‘Meet the Experts’ session in Welsh ICE and a ‘Meet the Professional’ session for Go Wales at Aberystwyth University. These sessions are beneficial not just for those seeking advice, but it gives us a chance to understand the types of questions you may have and how we can help!
We don’t like to toot our own trumpet too much…. so we thought we’d let someone else do it for us:
At the Meet the Professional session for Go Wales at Aberystwyth University, Stan Kollarik commented:
“Rob was one of the most inspiring employers I’ve had the chance to engage with as part of my work on the Go Wales project. He was kind enough to lend his time to help one of my students think through their career choices. His excellent interpersonal skills made it very easy for my student to open up and engage with him. Rob was also very professional and understanding when filling out the paperwork associated with the project, which made the process much smoother. Would highly recommend!”
Let’s get personal…
For the first time since starting Arkay, Rob took a holiday!
And not just any holiday…New York, in April.
“New York has been on my `wish` list for a while, and I eventually got to take in all of the sights and sounds that New York has to offer.
From visiting the Empire State Building, taking a stroll around Times Square, crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, and meandering around Central Park, I also, if possible, look for some event to take part in when I go away. Nothing too much but something I can look back on and say, “I did that.” This time, I signed up and took part in the 9/11 Memorial 5k run – a great atmosphere, incredible support, and a nice bit of exercise!”
Landing back on Welsh soil, no sooner than a week later, Rob was straight into the Carten 100 – a 100-mile bike ride from Cardiff to Tenby, taking around 8 hours!
(We’re exhausted just writing about it!)
As we move (or cycle) into quarter 4, the team at Arkay is looking forward to working on new web development initiatives and continuing to work with our clients on redesigns, hosting, and more.
